Can a slightly modified generic version of a drug cause malignant tumours? Is the risk of cutting edge research for an anti-ageing drug worth it? How can a small South African pharmaceutical company challenge an American giant in the race to launch an anti-malaria vaccine? This explosive fifth book from the author of the Circle series and Phantom Gold delves into the new complex realm of class action suites in South Africa as well as considering the challenges and dangers of genetic research. The underhand dealing, insider trading, bribery and corruption makes for a compelling and believable tale of what might be happening behind the doors of corporate South Africa.

Having read the four books James Page previously wrote, which all involved some aspects of life in South Africa, I was eager to read his newest book Dangerous Medicine. The earlier books in the Circle series and Phantom Gold, although fiction, were great reads involving South Africa's wildlife and history. Even though the newest book is set in South Africa, the plot could have been constructed anywhere in the world. The subject is particularly interesting to Americans because of the huge impact that prescription drug development and pharmaceutical company greed has had on our lives, both in terms of its affect on our health and on our economics. The book story lines and character development were exciting and entertaining, and even though fictional, left me thinking that similar intrigue has probably occurred in the pharmaceutical corporate world in the recent past.Product details

Dangerous Medicine James Page 9781517247935 Books Reviews
The author continues improving. From his early thriller novels he has matured. He still writes in a quick and action filled manner but compliments with an excellent descriptive ability that effortlessly, holds the reader's interest while he weaves his tale.
The story is about a small aggressive generic drug and beauty product manufacturer involved in anti-ageing laboratory research. The characters are plausible with all the inherent human strengths and failings.
There is research, intrigue, greed, bribery, decency, work ethic, compassion, and death by passion and most foul.
He has a great feel for nature, his descriptions are elegant and it is clear that a lot of research into the subject matter has been carried out.
I was fortunate to read the book in its draft form and again in final form and enjoyed it even more on re-reading.
A book well worth reading and an author well worth following.
